Baldur’s Gate 3 and Alan Wake 2 Receive the Most Nominations for Game Awards 2023

Larian Studios Baldur's Gate 3 and Remedy Entertainment's Alan Wake 2 received the bulk of the nominations for the upcoming Game Awards 2023, with eight nominations each. And deservedly so, these games are quite amazing in their own right.

Game for the Ages

Baldur's Gate 3 is a role-playing game developed by Larian Studios. Many people loved the game ever since it was officially launched earlier this year, mainly due to its story and the fact that it has no microtransactions whatsoever.

Players also praise the game's voice acting and the way the characters make you feel fully invested in their backstories.

Baldur's Gate 3 has received eight nominations for the upcoming Game Awards 2023, including Best Game Direction, Best Score and Music, Best Narrative, Best Performance, Best Community Support, Best Multiplayer, Best RPG, and of course, Game of the Year!

Despite the game's massive success, it seems that Larian Studios is not stopping anytime soon. In fact, they've recently released Patch 4 whichincluded over 1,000 fixes and changes.

Horror Game to Remember

Players who are in for a scare should definitely give Alan Wake 2 a try. This is a survival horror game developed by Remedy Entertainment that also incorporates some detective elements thanks to the addition of a new character, an FBI agent named Saga Anderson.

Anderson can enter what is known as the "Mind Place," which is said to be a representation of her thoughts. Here, players can put together clues in order to solve the main mystery of the game.

Now, why is Alan Wake 2 popular? Well, part of the reason is its amazing graphics, but a lot of it has to do with the story and the intense feeling players feel during the course of the game.

Alan Wake 2 has been nominated for Game of the Year, Best Narrative, Best Game Direction, Best Art Direction, Best Performance (Melanie Liburd), Best Score and Music, Best Sound Design, and Best Action/Adventure Game.

Worthy Contenders

There are other games that got multiple nominations as well. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 received a total of seven nominations, including Game of the Year, Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, Best Audio Design, Best Performance (Yuri Lowenthal),  Innovation in Accessibility, and Best Action/Adventure Game.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is no slouch either. The game got five nominations, which include Game of the Year, Best Game Direction, Best Art Direction, Best Score/Music, and Best Action/Adventure Game.

Surprisingly, Bethesda Game Studios' beloved and overhyped action role-playing game set in space, Starfield, only received one nomination for Best RPG. People are surprised that this game got nominated for anything due to its negative reviews, poor technical performance, and mediocre gameplay.

It would be interesting to see which game would take home the "Game of the Year" crown. Sure, Alan Wake 2 and Baldur's Gate 3 are frontrunners, but The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and even Resident Evil 4 Remake are great titles as well.

The Game Awards 2023 will air on December 7.
