Grand Theft Auto Online 'Chop Shop Update' Adds the Salvage Yard and More

Grand Theft Auto Online players are in for a treat as Rockstar Games dropped a pretty hefty update to end the year with a bang. The aptly named "Chop Shop" update introduces a plethora of new features; chief among them is the new Salvage Yard where players run a new business that can help them earn heaps of cash.

Salvage Galore

One of the highlights of GTA Online's Chop Shop update is the new Salvage Yard. This is a new business that players can run that will have them roam around the city for highly-prized vehicles to steal. The stolen cars can either be salvaged for parts or sold to interested buyers for money.

Additionally, players can buy a Tow Truck that they can use to tow abandoned cars. As one can probably tell, these vehicles will be delivered right to the Salvage Yard where the players' crew can strip them for parts. Getting a tow truck is also a great way to generate more passive income.

Drift Racing

Another notable thing that was introduced in the Chop Shop update is the ability to do some Drift Races. In order to engage in this type of thing, players must have a Los Santos (LS) Car Meet membership.

Those who are still not a member of the LS Car Meet can open up Mimi's email and follow the directions contained in it. Then, players must pay $50,000 to take advantage of what the organization has to offer. Those who are interested in joining a drift race can speak with the Race Organizer inside the Car Meet.

Anyway, the main objective of these races is to score the most points by doing longer drifts, avoiding obstacles, and building up the score multipliers. What's more, players can install Drift-Tune upgrades to their cars to make them primed and ready.

Drive in a Cop Car

In true GTA fashion, Rockstar Games has added a bunch of new cars in this update, including the Stanier LE Police Cruiser, where players can drive in a cop car without fear of getting caught. Players must complete "The Gangbanger Robbery" mission before they can purchase the said vehicle.

Other vehicles that were added in the Chop Shop update are:

  • Grotti Turismo Omaggio (Super) - With Imani Tech

  • Vapid Aleutian (SUV) - With Imani Tech
