The 2D action platformer Dead Cells will receive its last major set of new content in an update that will be released later this year. This has been confirmed by the game's publisher, Motion Twin Studios.

Comes to an End

Motion Twin Studios announced recently that Update 35 for Dead Cells marks the end of the game's creative journey. According to the company, the game's developer, Evil Empire, is going to pursue "new adventures," such as the upcoming title, Windblown, which is expected to be released sometime this year.

Part of the reason why the company is moving on to other projects is that it does not want to fall into the trap of making Dead Cells feel "more of the same."As we've seen with other long-running series, it's crucial not to overextend and risk diminishing the unique charm that makes Dead Cells special to us all," said the game's publisher.

Now, Motion Twin Studios assures the players that it will continue to provide bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements across all platforms to ensure a "worthy experience" for all.

What Happens Next?

With Dead Cells entering Maintenance Mode later this year, what happens next? Motion Twin Studios said that mobile users can expect Update 34 to drop on the platform in 2024. Although the publisher initially planned it to be released alongside Update 35, some unforeseen circumstances have prevented them from doing so. This forced them to change the timeline to get everything sorted out.

Dead Cells players can expect the highly anticipated release of Update 35 in the near future. This update will bring a plethora of new content, including new weapons, monsters, and customization options, just to name a few.

Now that the game is coming to an end, players have said their farewells on X/Twitter. One user said that even though they are not a fan of 2D games, they fell in love with Dead Cells the moment they tried it.

User MythosVT replied that the company made a pretty good game. They said that they spent a ton of hours enjoying Dead Cells because it was the only thing that kept them sane.

So, what can you say about Dead Cells officially going to Maintenance Mode this year? Also, are you going to play the developer's other offering when it becomes available?
