Stellar Blade Director Confirms No Microtransactions, Except for Cross-Collaborations

In a recent interview, director Kim Hyeong-tae of the highly anticipated game Stellar Blade addressed a crucial aspect of the gaming experience: microtransactions. Fans of the upcoming action-adventure title can breathe a sigh of relief as Kim confirmed that Stellar Blade will not feature any microtransactions upon its release. This declaration was made crystal clear during an interview with Ruliweb, which was later corroborated by IGN.

No Microtransactions, No Surprises

Kim Hyeong-tae was unequivocal in his statement, assuring players that Stellar Blade would not spring any additional expenses on them beyond the initial purchase. "We want to make it clear at this point that Stellar Blade will not require any additional expenses that gamers are not aware of beyond what they paid for the package," Kim emphasized to Ruliweb.

This commitment to transparency is likely to resonate positively with the gaming community, where concerns about hidden costs have often sparked controversy.

Exceptions to the Rule

While Stellar Blade will steer clear of microtransactions at launch, Kim Hyeong-tae did mention one potential exception: collaboration costumes with other companies' intellectual properties (IP). These costumes, if introduced, may be offered for a fee.

However, it's important to note that this would be an optional purchase and not a core aspect of the game's monetization strategy. Furthermore, Kim hinted at the possibility of future updates, including the introduction of a New Game+ mode, to enhance the gaming experience post-launch.

Stellar Blade's Post-Launch Plans

Despite ruling out microtransactions, Kim Hyeong-tae teased players with the promise of free updates following the game's release. Among the planned updates are additional costumes for the game's protagonist, Eve. This commitment to providing ongoing content without additional cost underscores Shift Up's dedication to delivering value to players and maintaining a positive relationship with the gaming community.
