'Animal Crossing New Horizons' 3.0.2 Update Adds 25th Anniversary Item, Major Bug Fixes on Switch

Nintendo is launching a smoother "Animal Crossing" experience for Switch players.

Nintendo has released a new update for "Animal Crossing: New Horizons," just in time for the franchise's 25th anniversary. There's also a special commemorative item sent directly to players' in-game mailboxes. The collectible gift features a nostalgic design that pays tribute to the series' origins in 2001 on the Nintendo 64, offering longtime fans a small celebration of the franchise's history.

Throughout the years and across multiple console generations, the enduring popularity of the "Animal Crossing" series is always on point. The nostalgia behind these games is incomparable to fans who grew up seeing their evolution.

Version 3.0.2 Patch Fixes Gameplay and System Bugs

'Animal Crossing New Horizons' Update 3.0 Brings Resort Hotel, New

Alongside the anniversary celebration, Nintendo has rolled out Version 3.0.2, a stability update designed to address several gameplay and technical issues affecting both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 systems.

According to GameSpot, one of the key fixes resolves a bug that previously prevented players from exiting hotel rooms due to furniture placement issues or problematic guest behavior.

Another correction addresses an immersion issue where villagers visiting the player's home could appear in incorrect or unnatural positions inside the house.

Crafting and Environmental Issues Improved

The update also brings improvements to crafting mechanics, fixing a glitch where players could accidentally complete DIY recipes without having the required materials.

Environmental bugs have also been addressed, including disappearing snowball interactions and visual issues involving dung beetles.

Additional fixes ensure smoother item interactions, such as preventing items from emerging from rocks before being struck by a shovel. The update also corrects issues with glowing island spots not appearing correctly during flight transitions.

DLC and Stability Enhancements Included

The Happy Home Paradise expansion also receives fixes in this update. Nintendo resolved an issue where vacation home requests would stop appearing despite being available, ensuring smoother progression for players engaging with the DLC content.

Beyond specific fixes, Nintendo confirmed that further minor adjustments have been made to improve overall system stability and gameplay consistency across the experience.
