Blizzard Entertainment is celebrating the 10th anniversary of "Overwatch" with a large-scale in-game event featuring exclusive cosmetics, community challenges, loot boxes, and limited-time rewards.
The Overwatch Anniversary 2026 event officially begins on May 12 and will run through June 1, giving players several weeks to unlock special content and celebrate the franchise's decade-long legacy.
Blizzard Continues Major Overwatch Rebrand
The anniversary celebration arrives during a transformative period for the franchise. Earlier this year, Blizzard officially removed the "2" from "Overwatch 2" and returned to the original "Overwatch" branding as part of a big overhaul for the series.
Since its original launch in 2016, "Overwatch" has become one of the gaming industry's most recognizable hero shooters, building a massive global player base through its fast-paced gameplay and diverse roster of heroes.
The company also introduced significant gameplay and narrative changes, including revamped story systems and five brand-new heroes launched during Season 1. Blizzard has already confirmed that five additional heroes are scheduled to arrive later this year.
Anniversary Event Features Skins, Loot Boxes, and Challenges
According to GameRant, Blizzard confirmed that the anniversary event will include 21 launch hero skins, 15 anniversary loot boxes, 33 community-inspired cosmetics, and five exclusive weapon charms.

One featured weapon charm displays the number "10" alongside wings inspired by Mercy, one of the franchise's most iconic characters.
Although Blizzard has not revealed the full cosmetic lineup, promotional materials already showcase popular heroes such as Mercy, Tracer, and Winston, suggesting the original roster will remain central to the celebration.
Players will also be able to earn exclusive anniversary titles by completing gameplay objectives and participating in community challenges throughout the event.
Weekly Rewards and Bonus Events Continue
The celebration will also introduce weekly community challenges where players can work together to unlock additional legendary loot boxes and bonus rewards.
Before the anniversary event officially launches, players still have time to participate in Junkrat's Loot Hunt, a limited-time activity running through May 12. The event offers up to nine free loot boxes and double Battle Pass XP rewards.
Blizzard has teased even more surprises for the anniversary celebration, indicating that additional announcements and content updates may arrive throughout the event period.
