"Dog Man: Bark in Action" will launch this fall on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC with a full 60-level campaign and local co-op play.

Publisher Mindscape and developer Floor 84 are expanding Dav Pilkey's "Dog Man" universe in this new action-adventure adaptation, confirmed for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.

The game does not yet have a specific release date, but the companies are currently targeting a fall 2026 launch window and positioning the project for the holiday season, according to Gematsu.

What 'Dog Man: Bark in Action' Features

"Dog Man: Bark in Action" features 60 action-focused levels that span six new worlds inspired by locations from the books, including settings such as Cat Jail and Robo-Time Industries.

Levels are structured to gradually introduce new mechanics, with later stages layering environmental hazards, more complex platforming sections, and multi-phase encounters to keep the campaign progressing in difficulty.

Players can switch between Dog Man and his Supa Buddies, with a roster of more than 10 playable heroes, each offering distinct abilities for combat and traversal.

Characters such as Li'l Petey, 80-HD, Commander Cupcake, and Chief can join the action, and each character's move set is designed to complement others, encouraging experimentation with different team compositions across missions.

Local co-op is a core feature, allowing a second player to drop in for couch co-op across the entire campaign. The co-op mode is fully integrated into story missions and boss fights, with puzzles and enemy waves tuned so that players can share responsibilities such as crowd control, platform activation, and gadget deployment.

The Game's Progression Systems

Progression systems in "Dog Man: Bark in Action" include collectible sprockets and yarn that can be exchanged for unlockable gadgets and cosmetic outfits, Worth Playing reported.

These upgrades allow players to equip "Supa Gadgets" for new ways to tackle levels and to craft outfits referencing characters like Scarlet Shredder and Cat Kid, adding incentives for thorough exploration and replaying completed stages.

Mindscape positions "Dog Man: Bark in Action" as a follow-up to "Dog Man: Mission Impawsible," aiming to expand the original game's formula with more levels, additional heroes, and a larger number of boss encounters.

The sequel also continues the ongoing conflict with villain Dr. Scum and his minions, setting up a story that supports both solo and cooperative play from the start of the campaign through its final stages, while remaining accessible to younger players and fans of the book series, as per Screen Rant.
