Two "The Legend of Heroes" role-playing games, "The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero" and "The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure," are officially set to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 on Sept. 10, 2026.
Publisher NIS America confirmed that the upcoming ports will bring the Crossbell arc entries to current-generation consoles with a simultaneous worldwide release date.
Both games were originally released in Japan on older platforms and later localized for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC, but this is the first time they will appear on Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5.
The new versions target players who may have missed the earlier releases and those who want enhanced performance on newer hardware, according to Siliconera.
'Legend of Heroes' Games Coming to Switch 2 and PS5
"Trails from Zero" follows Lloyd Bannings and the Special Support Section as they investigate corruption and rising tensions in the autonomous city-state of Crossbell, while "Trails to Azure" continues that story and concludes the Crossbell narrative arc.
The two titles are part of Nihon Falcom's long-running "The Legend of Heroes" series and act as a bridge between earlier "Trails in the Sky" entries and later games like "Trails of Cold Steel."
Their arrival on Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 expands the availability of the Crossbell arc alongside existing releases such as "The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak II" and "The Legend of Heroes: Trails beyond the Horizon" on modern platforms.

On Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5, both games will feature enhanced visuals and higher performance compared to prior console versions. According to the official release date trailer, the ports support resolutions up to 4K and frame rates up to 120 FPS, as well as options to switch between original and upscaled textures.
The Nintendo Switch 2 versions will also include an additional "Mouse Mode" control option that was not available in earlier console editions, IGN reported.
Bring the Franchise to Next-Generation Systems
NIS America's announcement follows a broader push by Nihon Falcom to bring more "The Legend of Heroes" titles to current and next-generation systems by 2026.
The company's recent release schedule highlights multiple Trails projects, including "The Legend of Heroes: Trails beyond the Horizon" launching for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC on Jan. 15, 2026.
With the addition of "Trails from Zero" and "Trails to Azure" on Sept. 10, 2026, Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 users will have access to a larger portion of the interconnected Trails storyline on a single generation of hardware, as per Nintendo.
