'Hearthstone' Curse Of Naxxramas Price, Release Structure Details Announced; Expansion Release Date Still Expected In July

Hearthstone Curse Of Naxxramas Price, Release Structure Details Announced Finally

After much delay and internet turmoil, Blizzard has finally announced the payment structure for their Hearthstone expansion, Curse of Naxxramas.

Titanfall DLC Frontier's Edge Announced

The floating necropolis Naxxramas, in which the new single player adventure mode takes place, is divided up into 5 wings. A month long celebration event will allow all players free access to the first wing, the Arachnid Quarter. Get in quick, because the event will not last long and then you'll have to pay for all of it. New bosses and challenges await. A total of 30 new cards are expected to launch with the expansion.

"After the Arachnid Quarter, the next four wings (Military Quarter, Construct Quarter, and Frostwyrm Lair.can be purchased for 700 gold per wing or $6.99 USD per wing. Players can earn the in-game gold needed to unlock the next wing of Naxxramas by completing various quests or emerging victorious from the Arena, or they can choose to unlock the next available Naxxramas wing using real money."

Endless Legend Beta Goes Live On Steam Early Access

If you're impatient, however, you can purchase all 5 wings immediately for $24.99. A tiered pricing structure lessens the amount you pay for every wing you already own. For instance, if you already own one wing, the remaining four will cost you $19.99, if you own two, the remaining three will cost $14.99.

Purchasing the wings does not grant you quicker access. The expansion is rolling out one new wing per week. For those that buy ahead, you'll have to wait like all the rest of us.

Additionally, when players defeat all the bosses of Naxxramas, they will unlock Heroic mode, which will significantly up the level of difficulty. Hardened Hearthstone players will find their skills challenged like never before in this new mode, and upon completion, will receive a new card back plus all requisite glory.

The delay in the pricing announcement, which was originally scheduled for July 1, is due to Blizzard taking care of as many bugs as well as laying down the architecture for future expansions. Naxxramas was announced a while back, but is only now coming close to release. The development team has learned from this process and has hopefully streamlined it to ensure quicker rollouts for future expansions.

There is still no word on actual release date. Blizzard is shooting for July. Next week, July 16, is a bit out of the question as their main competitor, Magic: The Gathering - Duel of the Planeswalkers 2015 hits Steam that day. A July 30 release date is more likely.
