The Witcher Battle Arena Launches On iOS And Android Tomorrow; F2P MOBA Will Help With The Wait For The Wild Hunt

We are all bummed that The Witcher III: Wild Hunt has been delayed until May. We can take comfort in knowing that it is probably for the best, as it will allow CD Projekt Red to polish the game and ensure that there are no massive Day One issues.

However, patience is not our virtue and May is a long way away. How do we fill the Geralt of Rivia-sized hole in our hearts until then? The Witcher Battle Arena, the new MOBA title coming out tomorrow, January 22 for both iOS and Android devices. That's how.

The F2P game will feature a veritable rogue's gallery of characters from the Witcher universe, including Saskia of Aedirn, Letho of Gulet and the artist currently known as The Golem. Geralt of Rivia, meanwhile, is not included. Though we hope that he will make an appearance at a later date.

Two teams will battle it out for control of various control points in 3v3 matches, similar to every other MOBA you may have played. "The intuitive system of character progression allows you to create player-tailored character builds and unique item configurations to surprise your friends and stagger your foes."

CD Projekt Red, who is a big fan of free DLC, has designed the game to be - wait for it - "free to play, but not pay to win".

"In a world full of enter-your-PIN-number-to-win mechanics, what we value above all is well-balanced and honest gameplay," said Tadek Zieliński, Creative Analyst, CD Projekt Red. "Battle Arena is all about skill and dedication, and we've spent hundreds of hours planning to make it a paragon of fairness in mobile gaming," Zieliński added.

Which is not to say that money cannot buy you that most precious of all commodities: time.

The Witcher is every witch-way these days. The Witcher Adventure Game was recently digitized and has been sucking up a lot of our time here at the office. I can only imagine how much time will be spent with Battle Arena.

Now, which games to get rid of. I'm going to need a lot of space.
