“Dead Space” rewind and E3 Official Trailer reveal

I've encountered several people who refuse to play Dead Space alone (especially with the lights off) and it was not until I played it for myself that I understood why. "Survival horror" does not even begin to accurately describe the game's frightening essence, and the upcoming Dead Space 3 is a clear sign that Developer Visceral Games (formerly known as EA Redwood Shores) wants fans to continue getting spooked.

Before elaborating on the third installment of the Dead Space franchise, let's begin a overview of each chilling game, shall we?

Dead Space (2008)

This survival horror third-person shooter video game was released in October (how appropriate) for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Blackberry Playbook. The player controls an engineer named Isaac Clarke, who must fight his way through a mining star ship plagued with ugly, reanimated human corpses called Necromorphs. The game takes place in the year 2507 and we see characters like, Kendra Daniels, Zach Hammond, Dr. Challus Mercer, Nicole Brennan and Dr. Terrence Kyne.

Dead Space 2 (2011)

It is set three years after the events of the first Dead Space and Isaac is now tormented by dementia caused by self-replicating signals implanted into him by the Red Marker in the first game. He is also no longer silent, but now speaks. One main feature that fans notice in this game that is unlike its predecessor, is the multiplayer mode, pitting human characters against Necromorphs across the Sprawl.

Dead Space 3 (2013)

It is the franchise's third and upcoming installment and there has been quite a lot of buzz about the game and what was revealed at E3. Bosses are bigger, it appears to be co-op focused, Isaac will be exploring ships, and explore corridors aboard the ships. There's quite a bit of zero gravity in several areas and also, compared to the former installments where players were somewhat limited to a ship or space station, this upcoming game provides gamers with a seemingly much larger space.

Dead Space 3 overall gives fans anticipation for something new, yet gratifyingly familiar. Hopefully this upcoming game will provide the familiar fear fans feel when the game gets a little too quiet and Isaac turns that fateful corner...

So far the series has been very successful, selling over 4 million copies all over the world.
