Hitman Update: Fans on Xbox One and PS4 have to wait until 2016

IO Interactive announced that they have to push back the release of Hitman for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC platforms from December this year to March next year citing system changes and backward compatibility as the main reason for the push back, Express reported.

Aside from the previously cited reasons, IO Interactive also pointed out that they are planning to add more launch content to the game that what was originally planned. They also confirmed that they will release more information in the future or coming weeks with regard to Hitman's full release schedule and scope of the game in general.

To add, Hitman also released an official statement and provided their input about the situation. The statement said that they wanted to make sure that the gamers will get the best possible experience when playing the game and said that pushing back the project was never easy for them.

On the other hand, the extra months they will get from the push back will mean additional time to come up with additional contents and tighter updates, which will ultimately create a bigger and better experience for all gamers, which is Hitman's ultimate goal in the first place, the statement added.

The developer also provided details of how big the project was and pointed out that the game will have a larger scale because of the game's various locations. IO Interactive also barbed that in this scale it will be harder for the team to put in missions, set up death traps, and a massive supply of targets for the game's Contracts mode. They also said that Hitman is by far the biggest venture they had, not just by its scope and ambition but as well as the size of the game world itself.
