PC No Longer Top Gaming Platform for Kids, Revealed By Study

A group that went to study what or who is the leading gaming platform for this year confirmed that PC no longer sits on the throne. For the longest time, the PC Platform was the entry point for every kid who wants to play video game. NDP Group, the organization responsible for the study revealed the results that children ages from 2 to 17 no longer consider PC as the entry level for gaming, Gamespot reported.

The study went further to divulge the information that the most popular platform for that particular range of age was mobile devices. Out of the subjects, 63% of them said that they are playing games in mobile devices, while 45% play at the PC, 22% down from 2013.

Surprisingly, game consoles such as PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, 3DS, and PlayStation Vita fell dramatically, but the numbers were not shared for an undisclosed reason. On the other hand, game consoles are more popular for ages 9 to 11 which is at 41%. According to the groups analyst, Liam Callahan, the largest and most astounding swing in the 2015 gaming ecosystem was kids' veering away from the computer.

He went on to say that in the past, the computer was considered the entry point for gaming for most kids, but the game has transformed now and mobile devices advanced to be the most popular among platforms. Callahan attributed the change toward the behavior of parents that are most likely using mobile devices for tasks that were once a computer is only capable of doing.

Another disturbing fact about mobile devices is that kids openly admitted that they are actually spending more time in playing games in the device, in which the numbers completely supported the claim by showing an increase of 41% from the previous study. The remaining 69% were distributed among the other platforms.
