Experts Hint Backward Compatibility Of PS4 Because Of 3.00 Update

PS4 is apparently prepping up to directly compete with Xbox One's backward compatibility. According to rumors, Sony is gearing up to equip the PlayStation 4 with similar feature like what Xbox One is trying to do currently with their Xbox One upcoming backward compatibility in order for PS2 titles to be playable in the PlayStation 4 console.

Although the rumors are still unconfirmed, tech experts are starting to feed fuel to the fire with PS4's upcoming PS4 3.00 update beta that it will feature a backward compatibility. In fact, an insider leaked an unconfirmed rumor that 2 PS2 titles will be playable in PS4. These are War of Monsters and Siren.

The backward compatibility for PS4 is not a new rumor since it was brought up before, but it died down when Sony and PlayStation 4 did not entertain such idea because it was not a trend before. PS4's backward compatibility was revived when Microsoft confirmed that they are looking into the possibility to make old titles for the Xbox series to be playable in their Xbox One.

As of this time, there are no confirmations or hints from the Japan-based consumer electronics titan if the upcoming PS4 3.00 update will feature a backward compatibility for PS2 titles. But if this project will push through, it is time to dust off the old PS2 games and relive precious moments that PS2 brought a couple of years ago.

In related news, PS4 tied up with Taco Bell which will allow participants to win a limited edition gold series of the PS4. Coined as Winner Every 10 minutes, the partnership will run from Sep. 24 to Nov. 4, and according to the name of the project, there will be winners of the PS4 limited edition every 10 minutes. The limited gold edition PS4 prize will come with a physical copy of Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection and a voucher for a year-long membership to PlayStation Plus.
