Steve Levitan confirmed the appearance of the 45-year-old Canadian actor at the Television Critics Association summer press tour on Thursday after "Castle" was called off on ABC. He will play the role of Rainier Shine, a weatherman, in "Modern Family" Season 8, which is set to air on Sept. 21 on ABC.
