'Arrow,' 'Flash,' 'Supergirl' Air Date, Spoilers, News & Update: 'Significant Character' to Come Out as Gay

It seems that the DC end of the comic book/entertainment universe is getting a leg up in the game.

From big screen successes ("Suicide Squad," "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice") to small screen interpretations ("Supergirl," "Flash,") it seems that the studio is riding high with so many people abuzz about the upcoming fall TV and film seasons. In fact, executive producer Greg Berlanti teased a whole lot of information during the Television Critics Association summer press tour, hinting about a new character development across the shows he manages.

E! News reports that fans can look forward to one "significant character" coming out as gay when "Arrow," "Flash," and "Supergirl" come back this fall TV season. Berlanti shared the news but remained tight-lipped about who exactly is this "significant character" who will undergo some serious character development and come out as gay. The executive producer explained that last year, they had already been talking about this certain character being gay, however, "it didn't materialize," and they did not get the opportunity to include it in the story.

What's even more exciting about this news is that Berlanti is also being coy about what show the character belongs to, whether he or she comes from "Arrow," "Flash," or "Supergirl," or if the character belongs to the DC Universe as a whole. Berlanti added that this season, they were intent on including the coming out of this "significant character," something that The CW was open to.

In other "Arrow," "Flash," "Supergirl," and "Legends of Tomorrow" news, the four-way crossover is happening, and production is currently underway. Speaking of crossovers, The Verge reports that "Flash" and "Supergirl" are gearing up for a musical crossover that should hit the air sometime next year. Berlanti shared that they will be performing mostly songs that already exist, so fans should get on social media to suggest their favorites and tweet it to the showrunners.

A little bit of "Flash" trivia: both Melissa Benoist, who stars as "Supergirl" and Grant Gustin a.k.a. Barry Allen, have appeared as guests on the hit musical TV series, "Glee." "Arrow," "Flash," "Supergirl," and "Legends of Tomorrow" are set to return to The CW this fall.
