Xbox One VS PlayStation 4: Microsoft Outsells Sony in July; Sony to Announce PS4 Neo in September

For three long years, Microsoft and Sony has been in a race to sell their consoles to gamers worldwide.

From special offers to discounts and upgraded features, both companies have offers that are undeniably great. Admittedly, Sony's PlayStation 4 has emerged victorious by selling twice as much as Microsoft's Xbox One. However, the underdog seems to have sold so much more than Sony this July.

According to Gamerant, XBox One has emerged on the top of the list for console sales in July. Xbox marketing head Mike Nichols shared that even their total gaming hours were up by 18% within the last 12 months, for a total of 1.55 billion hours. He added that the 2TB version of the Xbox One S has sold out in the U.K. and is nearing a sold out status in the United States as well.

Nichols announced that a 500GB and 1TB Xbox One S will arrive on August 23, with a S299 and $349 price tag, respectively. That's enough to get gamers excited for Christmas, in the hopes of stuffing their socks with a new Xbox console.

Meanwhile, Yahoo! Tech reports that Sony is looking to announce the highly anticipated PlayStation 4 Neo on September 7. The new console is set to support higher-fidelity visuals to 4K resolution for both media and games.

The unveilingo f the PlayStation 4 Neo is scheduled to occur during the PlayStation Meeting at 3 p.m. on September 7 in the PlayStation Theater in New York City. Fans should get excited for the said event, as according to Polygon, Sony will be livestreaming the PlayStation Meeting, making for an epic event that could be watched worldwide.
