Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Demo Release Date Announced

Gamers will soon get to test drive cyborg ninja Raiden in Konami's Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance demo. The publisher announced that the demo would release on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live in January for all regions.

The demo was originally available only to those gamers who purchased the Enders HD Collection. The demo was announced on Twitter by Konami and first reported by IGN.

"MGR demo is coming to PSN & XBL for all regions next month," Konami Tweeted. "Can't wait? Check out the demo now as part of ZOE HD."

IGN has already played the demo and offered the following insight: "Having played the demo ourselves, we can confirm it's fairly sizeable and should definitely be enough to let you know whether you want to buy the game when it releases."

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will released for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 consoles sometime in February 2013. The game takes place four years after the events of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

According to Konami the story will focus on Raiden as he battles Desperado Enterprises, a self-proclaimed PMC involved in terrorist activities. Here is the official synopsis from the game's site:

"Raiden is contracted for VIP protection, military training and other duties by PMSCs (Private Military and Security Companies) in a developing country piecing itself back together after a bloody civil war. Little does he know that the stage is set for a clash with an enigmatic force of countless cyborgs."

Unlike its stealthy predecessors, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is strictly an action game. The gameplay focuses on melee combat and sword fighting. The game also allows almost any object to be cut into pieces including vehicles, enemies and certain structures.
