NCAA Football 2014 News: EA Sports Announces Your School Cover Vote

EA Sports is giving fans of college football an opportunity to vote for their favorite academic institution in a brand new NCAA Football cover vote for its upcoming NCAA Football 2014.

Voting is now open for all 126 teams on EA Sports official Facebook page and will continue through the end of the year. The cover vote isn't the only way for fans to support their favorite college football team.

According to EA Sports, "Throughout the month we'll be showcasing specific rivalries, conferences, traditions, and college football legends, and every single fan interaction counts as a vote. Liking posts, sharing stories with friends, voting on rivalries and leaving comments all count as supporting your school; so be loud, be proud and make yourself heard. We'll also be providing regular updates throughout the process so you'll know exactly where your team stands and what you need to do to make sure they advance into the next round."

EA Sports is also encouraging fans to find creative ways to support and represent their team including tweets using the hashtag #NCAACoverVote, Instagram photos of campus landmarks and YouTube videos of university traditions.

Last year, NCAA Football 13 featured a similar fan vote that allowed college football enthusiasts to choose between Barry Sanders, Marcus Allen, Doug Flutie, Desmond Howard, Charlie Ward, Andre Ware, Eddie George, and Herschel Walker to appear on the cover alongside current NFL rookie sensation Robert Griffin III.

It appears EA Sports is attempting to revive interest in the franchise with the new contest. This year's version of NCAA Football saw a 20 percent decline in first month sales from the same period a year ago with many critics believing the decline in sales is owing to the game either becoming stale or that gamers are no longer making NCAA Football an annual purchase. However, NCAA 13 was the second highest selling entry in the series for the PlayStation 3.

EA's other virtually gridiron experience, Madden NFL 13 saw franchise highs for pre-orders and retail sales. EA Sports has reinvigorated interest in its pro-football game with similar cover contest and marketing. Hopefully, the contest along with some gameplay improvements will bring back some fans of the series.
