'Jessica Jones' Air Date, Spoilers, News & Update: All Female Directors For Season 2; Will They Be Better Than Men?

Melissa Rosenberg, the executive producer of "Marvel's Jessica Jones" announced that the 13 episodes of season 2 will be directed by entirely by women. Showrunner Rosenberg made the announcement at the Transform Hollywood panel. "Jessica Jones" Season 2 will not stick with the current trend that there are less opportunities female directors in the industry.

According to Variety, Melissa Rosenberg said that in "Jessica Jones" Season 2, Marvel completely agreed to Rosenberg when she wanted to increase the population of female directors. The "Jessica Jones" Season 2 producers have set their priorities in booking female directors first and contracting male directors later in the pre-production process.

The idea of the showrunner Melissa Rosenberg was just of increase the number of female director in "Jessica Jones" Season 2. However, she mentioned an unnamed person in the production had suggested an all women directors ides. She then quickly agreed to the concept.

Hollywood Reporter claims that there are just 17 percent of female directors in all TV episodes that aired during 2016-2017 and only one-third in the entire "Jessica Jones" Season 1. "Jessica Jones" Season 2 will also relate to the Defenders, which will also be managed by Daredevil's Douglas Petire and Marco Ramirez.

Melissa Rosenberg also gave hints for Kristen Ritter's character in "Jessica Jones" Season 2. She said that Jessica Jones will explore more of herself moving forward. Rosenberg added that you can advance a character but you never cure the character. The trauma of Jessica Jones from Kigrave is a huge part of who she is now.

There has been no release date of "Jessica Jones" Season 2 on Netflix. It hasn't been announced as of now. Netflix just released "Luke Cage", the spinoff of "Jessica Jones" last month while "Iron Fist" is set to be released on March 17, 2017. "Marvel's Defenders" will also be released in 2017.
