"The Last of Us 2" is an idea that Naughty Dog has seemingly considered over the years since the original came out, and with the pandemonium, fans may be looking at a whole new set of ideas for the sequel. That being said, what comes next for the franchise may come forth only in a matter of time.
As many may know by now, "The Last of Us 2" is undeniably a hyped title which some consider to still be a myth at this point. Due to the many instances in which fans claim to have seen hints that point to the said title as a certainty, Naughty Dog has not stopped in thwarting all their efforts aside.
According to the official site of Naughty Dog, the entire company is putting attention onto the downloadable contents of their games respectively, and with it, the rumor mills continue to churn for those waiting. At this point, "The Last of Us 2" may be one of the less priorities that the company will go for, especially with "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" being one of the more noticeable titles for the time being.
In relation to this, Neil Druckmann of Naughty Dog mentioned to Games Radar that there possibility of the title surfacing forward could happen as soon as all the downloadable contents for "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" are released. The more interesting thing to note for "The Last of Us 2," as Druckmann suggested with his partner Bruce Straley, is that they have ideas that could potentially transpire outside of the universe that the original established. This could also mean that the characters of both Joel and Ellie could be obsolete if not irrelevant.
