'Man of Steel Director' Zack Snyder Set To Direct 'Justice League' Movie? [RUMORS]

It looks like the hype surrounding the upcoming Man of Steel is enough that there's already talks that the movie's director, Zack Snyder, will be back to direct Big Blue in the rumored Justice League movie.

The rumor comes courtesy of Gangster Squad director Ruben Fleischer, one of the many rumored to be in the running to direct DC's response to The Avengers. Screen Crush asked Fleischer if he was still a contender for the job, to which Fleischer responded, "Well that's something that Zack Snyder is going to wind up doing."

Might be a bit early to declare Snyder the director based on Man of Steel alone, but he's had a great amount of success with comic book movie adaptations before, like Alan Moore's The Watchmen, and Frank Miller's 300.

The  future of a Justice League movie looked to be in turmoil for a bit. George Miller was at the helm of a script, then Warner Bros. announced the film was on indefinite hold, allowing for options to lapse for the cast. Then the studio wanted some final touches done on the script, which was rendered impossible due to the 2007-2008 Writers Guild of America strike. Since then, it's all been up in the air.

The lack of success with Superman Returns and Green Lantern also cast doubt on a DC super team movie, leaving DC without the option to set up the flick the same way The Avengers did. But Man of Steel is set to keep the possibility alive, as Snyder told Empire he was "making
references to the DC Universe, just to let you know that world is out there..."

Warner Bros. still has the movie pegged for a 2015 release, so it'll be a while before this, or any other League rumors get officially confirmed.
