‘Beauty and the Beast’ Spoilers, Cast, Predictions & Theories: ‘Harry Potter’ Actress Emma Watson Reveals All-New Backstory for Belle!

Disney fans worldwide have been granted a sneak peak of Bill Condon's live-action remake of "Beauty and the Beast." Recently, new photos of Cogsworth, Gaston, Lefou, Lumiere, Maurice, Mrs. Potts, and Plumette have been released, following Belle (Emma Watson) and the Beast's (Dan Stevens) famous sequence. The photos have proved quite consistent with the animation, but Emma Watson's "Beauty and the Beast" Belle backstory announcement yesterday might stir things up a little bit.

In an interview with EW, the 26-year-old implied there is more to Belle than just a bookworm."...we created a backstory for her, which was that she had invented a kind of washing machine, so that, instead of doing laundry, she could sit and use that time to read instead," she said.

Cleary, the "Harry Potter" star revealed that they made Belle an inventor in the upcoming fairy-tale film. Watson's "Beauty and the Beast" Belle backstory does not veer greatly to the original's path, but portraying Belle as an inventor creates a new punch that fans should watch out for.

News of "Beauty and the Beast" Belle's backstory isn't the only thing Disney onlookers should keep a lookout for. In the live-action remake, Belle's father, Maurice (Kevin Kline), will appear as an overly protective dad who has lost his wife. According to Katie Spencer (set decorator), Maurice will be seen making music boxes, each representing a country, to which Belle surmises she clearly is missing out on.

Meanwhile, screenwriters Stephen Chbosky and Evan Spiliotopoulos are still hard at work in exploring more of Belle's character. Creating the "Beauty and the Beast" Belle backstory has triggered all sorts of questions to eager fans and what additions are to be expected.

The original animated film, which spans 85 minutes, didn't have much time to explore Belle's life before meeting the Beast. In "Beauty and the Beast" Belle's backstory, what's plausible as of the moment is that we get to know Belle more in a personal sense.

"Beauty and the Beast" hits theaters on March 17, 2017. Tune in for more "Beauty and the Beast" Belle backstory updates here at GamenGuide!
