There are rumors that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is set to launch soon, featuring state-of-the-art specifications and features that will possibly beat the MacBook Pro (2016).

Trusted Reviews stated that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is a tablet/laptop hybrid device that may include a 4K display and the new Intel Kaby Lake processors. The device is part of the Surface Pro series, which means that it will have a screen with a kickstand, a Surface Pen stylus, a keyboard base and Windows 10 OS.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is expected to launch at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January 2017. However, there are also predictions that the device will become available in Spring 2017.

There are rumors that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will have a 4K/UHD screen with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels (16:9) or 3840 x 2560 pixels (3:2). One of its strongest features is the new line of Intel Kaby Lake processors, which are capable of enhanced clock speeds and faster clock speed changes due to the improved 14nm manufacturing approach.

The graphics core is also expected to be better. It is very likely that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will launch in various configurations, featuring different chipsets, screen sizes and resolutions, RAM and internal storage capacities. The top-end Microsoft Surface Pro 5 may showcase a 7th generation i7 Intel processor, 16GB of RAM, 1TB of internal storage and a full touch screen.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 may also feature a USB-C port and the newest version of the Surface Pen, which may have more levels of pressure sensitivity. The battery life may remain the same, unless the device offers 4K display.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 may cost anywhere between $799 and $1199 upon launch. Pocket-Lint revealed that the 15-inch MacBook Pro (2016) features a 2.6GHz Core i7 chipset, 256GB of internal storage, 16GB of RAM, an AMD Radeon Pro 450 (2GB) with Intel HD Graphics 530 GPU and a resolution of 2880 x 1800 pixels.

The latest MacBook also features a lighter design and the new Touch Bar and costs around $2500. The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 has the advantage in terms of the chipset, 4K display and price, and may eventually edge out Apple's product throughout 2017.
