‘The Good Fight’ Premiere Date, Cast & Updates: ‘The Good Wife’ Spinoff Focus On Christine Baranski; Gary Cole Returns As Kurt McVeigh

"The Good Fight" is currently in development. Recent updates on "The Good Wife" spinoff revealed that Gary Cole will be joining Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) soon.

The Hollywood Reporter stated that Gary Cole will reprise his role as Kurt McVeigh in "The Good Fight." McVeigh is a renowned ballistics expert and the husband of Baranski. Previously in the series finale of "The Good Wife," Kurt was compelled to shared details of his affair in court, so it is uncertain whether he will still be married to Baranski in "The Good Fight."

'The Good Wife' Spinoff Update: Gary Cole Returns

Gary Cole appeared 14 times throughout the seven-season run of "The Good Wife." He first appeared in Season 1 and married Baranski in Season 5. After revealing his affair, Baranski responded by slapping Alicia (Julianna Margulies) and walking away.

She ended their proposed partnership and friendship. It is likely that the two women will cross paths again in "The Good Fight." It was also teased that "The Good Wife" star Julianna Margulies will appear sometime in the upcoming series.

"The Good Fight" happens one year after the events of "The Good Wife" series finale. The story focuses on a massive financial scam that destroyed the reputation of a young lawyer Maia (Rose Leslie), Baranski's goddaughter.

In the process, Maia's mentor's savings were also wiped out and the two had to leave Lockhart & Lee. Christine and Maia join Lucca Quinn (Cush Jumbo) at one of the fast-rising law firms in Chicago in "The Good Fight."
