'Spider-Man: Homecoming' Release Date, News & Update: Former 'Batman' Confimed As Vulture; Zendaya Playing Mary Jane?

Michael Keaton has been confirmed to play the villain Vulture in "Spider-Man: Homecoming". The former "Batman" actor has been involved in the movie over the past months. Vulture was also hinted during a quick preview of ther "Spider-Man" reboot at the San Diego Comic-Con.

During an interview with Toronto Sun, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced that Michael Keaton will indeed play the "Spider-Man: Homecoming" villain, Vulture. "We've had a wish list and most of them in the near term are coming together," said Feige when asked about future villains of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Aside from Micheal Keaton as the Vulture in the "Spider-Man: Homecoming", Cate Blachett will be portraying Hela in "Thor: Ragnarok". Feige is also looking forward to Josh Brolin portraying Thanos for "The Avengers: Infinity War".

The Marvel Studios President was also asked if there is a chance that Netflix's Marvel Heroes will be seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe like in "Spider-Man: Homecoming". He said that it would be nice to have them around but they just don't know where, when and how.

Meanwhile, Zendaya has been facing controversies after being cast as the love interest of Tom Holland in the "Spider-Man: Homecoming". "People are going to react over anything. But nothing is fact. It's like, you guys are just making things up at this point and then reacting to it" she responded (via The Hollywood Reporter) when asked about Mary Jane as an African-American.

It was also announced last March by Marvel Studios that Zendaya will play the character by the name of Michelle in "Spider-Man: Homecoming". According to CBR, speculations surfaced in August that she will be playing Mary Jane however the new character's identity does not match the comic book Mary Jane.

Opens on July 7, 2017, "Spider-Man: Homecoming" will be directed by Jon Watts. The film stars Tom Hollad, Micheal Keaton, Donald Glover, Zendaya, Robert Downey Jr., Jacob Balaton, Laura Harrier, Bokeem Woodbine, Revolori, Tyne Daly, and Marisa Tomei.
