Since the game's launch on March 19 of this year, Gears of War Judgment has been continually expanded with new multiplayer gameplay modes and maps. The game's next update is set to launch later this month, as Epic Games has released new details surrounding "Dreadnought," a dark map that will be released in association with Epic's partnership with Maxim.

Epic gives players a detailed description of the map on the Epic Games company website:

"In the months immediately following Emergence Day, the COG managed to capture some Locust Berserkers.  Thinking that a ship at sea would be safe from an underground enemy, the COG decided to transport their prize to a secure research facility via the CNV Pomeroy. Little did they know that the Locust had waterborne beasts from the underground rivers of the Hollow, or that the Locust soldiers would use them so relentlessly to rescue the captured Berserkers.  The Pomeroy was corralled into a narrow channel and forced ashore, where the Locust sent a mass of troops to assault and overwhelm the beached vessel."

Dreadnought will launch on May 15, and will be free for players that already own the full version of the game. The map will only remain free for a limited time, but will still be available for purchase after this initial free promotion has ended.

Dreadnought has been specifically developed for the OverRun multiplayer gameplay mode. OverRun assigns players to alternating teams of either COG soldiers or Locust troops, and challenges them with defending or taking over an Emergence Hole cover, respectively. Locust players earn points as they play, which can be used to "purchase" progressively stronger characters with different abilities, strengths and weaknesses.

Dreadnought is the third downloadable content (DLC) pack for Gears of War Judgment, following "Haven" and "Call to Arms" which brought new modes and maps to the game back in March and April.

Players interested in learning more about the Dreadnought map DLC can check out an exclusive fly-through video of the map on the Maxim app on Xbox Live.
