Samsung Galaxy S8 Latest News & Updates: Leakster Reveals New Model Numbers; Next Note Teased With New Model Number

Trusted leakster Evan Blass recently revealed the model numbers of the Samsung Galaxy S8. There are also talks that the next Galaxy Note is already in development as Samsung tries to recover from the Note 7 fiasco.

GSM Arena reported that the Galaxy S6 has model number SM-G920, while the S6 Edge has G925. The Galaxy S7 carried model number SM-G930, while the S7 Edge has G935.

It was expected for the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus to have model numbers SM-G940 and SM-G945, respectively. However, the leakster stated that the next flagship models will arrive with model numbers SM-G950 and SM-G955, instead.

Evan Blass also tweeted that aside from the Galaxy S8, Samsung is also working on another device with model number SM-N950, rumored to be the new Galaxy Note. If the rumors turns out to be true, the new handset with an S-Pen will become available in 2017.

However, it is still uncertain whether Samsung will name it Note 8 or create an entirely new series to depart from the ruined reputation of the defective Note line. Blass later tweeted that both Galaxy S8 models will have edge displays, similar to the S7 smartphones.

Samsung may completely eliminate flat screens on future flagship models. If a new Samsung Galaxy Note releases, it is also expected to feature a curved screen, since the Note 7 did not have a flat surface. VR-Zone wrote that there were previous talks that Samsung may discontinue the Note series and focus only on the Galaxy S8 series after losing billions of dollars with the failed Note 7.

However, the rumored device with model number SM-N950 and two Galaxy S8 models will be more than enough to appeal to fans of big screens. The two new Galaxy S8 phones will reportedly feature a display size increase.

The first Galaxy S8 will allegedlymove up from 5.1 to 5.7 inches, while the Galaxy S8 Pluswill increase from 5.5 to 6.2 inches, which hopefully win back Note users. It is still uncertain how big the display of the SM-N950 device will be, or whether it is indeed the next Note. More updates and details on the Samsung Galaxy S8 are expected soon.
