Paradox Interactive has released the first ever screenshots for its upcoming multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) PC game Magicka: Wizard Wars. Based on the spell-casting systems of the original Magicka, Magicka: Wizard Wars features 4-on-4 team-based player-vs-player battles, as players fight to do whatever it takes to eliminate the opposing team.

Developed by Paradox North, Magicka: Wizard Wars looks to feature short battles and plenty of character customization, including a variety of stylish and powerful robes. The game has been designed to reward players who can think fast with even faster reflexes.

In keeping with the original Magicka, Wizard Wars features a full friendly fire system, pop culture references, and "new tricks" for even long-time series fans. Combat sees players combining elements to form hundreds of different spells, each one with a different effect on the playing field.  Some spells will be great for offensive attacks, while others can clear the air for a short time, allowing an overwhelmed team to catch their collectible breath before heading right back into battle.

Magicka: Wizard Wars doesn't have an official release date as of this writing, but interested players can sign up to receive more information on the game's official website.
