'Limitless' Season 2 Cancelled But Fans Remain Hopeful
Fans were devastated news broke out that "Limitless" Season 2 was cancelled by CBS. Apparently, the network is not pleased with the numbers churned out by the show's first season leading to its demise.
CBS Entertainment president Glenn Geller revealed that while the show was indeed very good, it lacked the numbers to justify continuing it for a second season. In Geller's words, he felt that the show did not connect "with the viewers as well as other shows," hence, "Limitless" Season 2 was cancelled, as reported by TV Insider.
Renew 'Limitless' Season 2 Petition
Of course, the show's loyal fan base did not take the news sitting down. Harnessing the power of the internet, loyal fans started an online petition called Renew "Limitless" Season 2 via Care2 Petitions. It proved to be a successful call. As of latest counting, it gathered 34,493 supporters, just a few hundreds shy of its original goal of 35,000.
Controversial 'Limitless' Season 2 Subject
While the show's ratings is the main reason being given as the reason why "Limitless" Season 2 was cancelled, there are those who believe that its rather controversial subject might be partly to blame. The show is all about the drug NZT-48, a nootropic said to unlock the brain's full potential, making anyone who takes it an instant genius.
In a previous GamenGuide report, it was speculated that CBS might still reconsider putting "Limitless" Season 2 back on air if they can somehow tamper with the plot. The reluctance by other studios such Netflix and Amazon to grab the show's second season is also speculated to be somehow connected with the controversial nature of the show's subject, the mysterious NZT.
