There’s been a lot of development over the past related to the arrival of Prey 2. While it was earlier stated that Arkane Studios, the team responsible for Dishonored, might be rebooting Prey 2, it seemed like the Human Head version of Prey 2 had almost disappeared.
However, Jason L Blair, a Human Head former employee, has more to say on this and by his comments, it seems like the company already had a version of the game that was up and running.
Blair claims that Human Head Studios’ Prey 2 was a full game and not just a demo, and that the game was actually fun to play and deserved an official release. For those who are thinking that if the game was already running, why Bethesda decided get rid of it, Blair also has an answer for that.
According to his official Twitter page, Prey 2′s scrapping was a political decision and that the “Prey 2/Arkane rumor is giving new life to a lot of old lies, I’m been quiet about this whole business but can’t stay so anymore.”
"I was heartbroken when Prey 2 went into limbo. Human Head deserved to have that game released. Frankly, they needed it," Blair added. “But I mourn that Prey 2 won't belong to Human Head. I mourn that my friends won't get recognition for what they accomplished.”
When it was found out that Arkane Studios will be working on the Prey 2 title, it was also revealed that the company would be starting the game from scratch and a new target release window of 2016 had been set for the game.
Bethesda is yet to comment anything on this issue officially.
Nothing much is known about Prey 2 as of now apart from the fact that the game’s story will focus on U.S. Marshal Killian Samuels. The last time Bethesda spoke anything about the game it was back in April last year when the company issued the following statement:
"Development of Prey 2 has not been cancelled but the game will not be released in 2012 as planned. The delay is due to the fact that game development has not progressed satisfactorily this past year, and the game does not currently meet our quality standards. Prey 2 has shown great promise and we regret disappointing our fans.”
"We have made a substantial investment in game development to deliver the experience fans want. We are determined only to release the AAA game that fans rightfully expect, and are unwilling to compromise our quality standards to meet a release schedule."
