Beatles News & Update: A Furious Break-Up Letter For Beatle Paul McCartney & Wife Linda, From John Lennon Sells For $30,000! What Does It Contain?

A furious letter written by John Lennon addressed to Paul and Linda McCartney has been sold in an auction at almost $30,000. The letter was written shortly after The Beatles split in 1970.

John Lennon-Paul McCartney was a creative tandem that molded The Beatles. The same partners were responsible for the band's fall. Paul publicly admitted that it was the business part that tore them apart.

The Daily Mail reported that the letter showed how much John Lennon and Paul McCartney's egos had clashed. The letter was written on a draft paper with a John And Yoko Bags Production Inc. letterhead, typewritten with John Lennon handwritings scribbling in between to add more messages.

The letter was believed to be written by John Lennon in 1971, a year after The Beatles split. Boston based RR Auction sold the letter to an anonymous buyer for almost $30,000. In that same year, Paul McCartney pulled together a band and called it Wings.

According to the auctioneers, John Lennon's angry letter was written as a response to Linda McCartney's complaint. Linda complained about Lennon's verdict to keep his exit from The Beatles known from the public. Vanit Fair reported that the letter addresses Paul and Linda but he obviously was truly furious at Linda.

John Lennon wasn't just furious about Linda's meddling with his decisions. He was also mad that Linda, not Paul, wrote the letter herself.

He opened the letter rhetorically asking which middle aged cranky Beatle fan wrote the letter. Whether it was the queen, Stuart's mother, Clive Epstein's wife, Alan Williams, but it was just Linda. He added that if she doesn't care what he says, she has to keep quiet and let Paul write.

According to the book "The John Lennon Letters", Linda rebuked Lennon for a lot of things. It includes the fact that Lennon wanted to keep his departure from the band a secret.

In his defense, John Lennon kept his departure a secret because Paul McCartney and the band's manager Allen Klein convinced him not to speak to the press. They fear it will damage the image of the Beatles. Lennon wanted Linda to understand his decision without meddling in the situation.
