Marvel Cinematic Universe Latest News & Update: Kevin Feige To Recast "Captain America" & "Iron Man"

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has been bold when it comes to franchise universe creation. It has created iconic characters and superheroes, gaining box office hits movies. Fans have met Marvel's boldness in positive light. However, they fear that the studio is recasting their favorite superhero, especially "Iron Man" and "Captain America," which would possibly happen.

Marvel Cinematic Universe continues through its phase 3. They are moving closer to the biggest and most awaited "Avengers: Infinity War" crossover event. Fanatics are beginning to wonder what kind of changes they will see after the "Infinity War."

Marvel has been clear in its claim that Phase 4 will introduce new things in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With new characters and relationships to explore, there will also be a time when contracts with some of the stars may be done and their character franchises exhausted. It all leads up to an inevitable point where the Marvel superheroes will need to find new cast members to portray the iconic superheroes of the franchise.

Kevin Feige, head of Marvel Studios, has addressed the issue of recasting in Marvel Cinematic Universe several times over the years, usually getting by with the statement that the time for recasting is still far. Comic Book reported that he is now reassuring that fans should not be too worried about the transition.

As Feige told Variety, they have a new "Spider-Man" right now who was part of the previous Marvel film and is in "Spider-Man: Homecoming" as well. Recasting a new superhero has been done before in the cases of Sherlock Holmes, James Bond and Batman where their characters last longer than any one actor playing them. There's a precedent for it in other franchises that suggests recasting is possible to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

There is already a well-established precedent for popular action and superhero movie characters getting new actors. It's only with the rise of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that fans have become more squirmish about changes with the actors.

It will be actually too hard for the fans to see someone else besides Robert Downey Jr. playing Tony Stark or someone other than Chris Evans as Steve Rogers. Marvel has actually spent the last few years laying the foundation for the transition in the comic books for Marvel Cinematic Universe by having new and different characters inheriting the iconic mantles of characters like Tony Stark and Steve Rogers.
