"Sonic the Hedgehog" is one of the most popular characters in the 90's. Sonic is coming back to the big screen in 2018. Sony Pictures Entertainment and SEGA SAMMY Group's animation announced a partnership to develop a movie based on the iconic video game franchise.
A new interview with SEGA CEO Hajime Satomi confirms that the project is not only still in the way, but on a fast moving production for a 2018 opening. This time, "Sonic the Hedgehog" will be on a live-action movie.
The "Sonic the Hedgehog" film will be capturing Sonic's tone and spirit, reuniting him with some of the most infamous characters of the franchise, including the evil Dr. Eggman. New plot twists and adventures might be added on this new movie adaptation, but it will not get too far from its origin.
According to the reports, "Sonic the Hedgehog" movie will be directed by Tim Miller. Miller is known as the director of the Marvel's movie "Deadpool."
After Tim Miller leaves out the Marvel's film due to creative conflicts between Miller and lead actor Ryan Reynolds, he decided to join Blur Studios with Jeff Fowler on the project. Den of Geek reported that Fowler will be directing the "Sonic The Hedgehog."
Not to confuse the fans, Tim Miller, the director of "Deadpool," will serve as one of the executive producers of the "Sonic the Hedgehog" 2018 movie. Jeff Fowler is the one who will direct the movie.
"Sonic the Hedgehog" 2018 movie is a hybrid CG-animated live-action feature. It is written by Van Robichaux and Evan Susser. The movie will be produced by Neal H. Moritz, along with Mie Onishi and Marzas Takeshi Ito.
When this "Sonic the Hedgehog" movie project was first announced in February, it was targeting the October 18, 2018 release date. The franchise or the story of Sonic was already known, but now, they are targeting the new generation who does not know the Hedgehog story. The story may be old, but it could still becomea hit in the present generation.
