CONSOLES

Could Sony release PlayStation 4 info at GamesCom 2013? Playable version happening at Comic-Con in the meantime

We had a number of noteworthy revelations at this year's recently concluded E3 convention, and the two biggest of them all, of course, were the detailed unveiling of Sony's PlayStation 4 and Microsoft's Xbox One. However, with that out of the way, we can now focus on the GamesCom happening in August, alongside the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con.

While there's still a bit of time left for both cons, there's always time to conjure up our own beliefs for the future from the industry. While we are not getting into any sort of vague speculations, it is actually not so hard to think that Sony will let go of the pedestal that will be offered via these events to discuss something more about the upcoming PS4 console. Our best bet is the revelation of a favorable release date for the console.

First off, it's the Comic-Con that's taking place next week in San Diego. This will be the first target for all those fans looking forward to owning a PS4 later this year. Sony first introduced the world to its upcoming PS4 gaming console back in February, and followed it up with details about console's release date and pricing.

Sony, at E3 2013, stated that that the PS4's release date is set for the holiday season, which is likely around November and set to be available at a price tag of $399. However, earlier this week, the schedule for the popular Comic-Con event was released and it was revealed there that Sony would be present at the event with its new PS4 and fans will have a chance to go hands-on with the console, along with the previous-generation PS3 and hand-held PS Vita.

The company wrote: "For the first time ever, gamers can go hands-on with the PS4. On top of that, we'll be showing off some of this year's most highly anticipated PS3 and PS Vita titles, as well as participating in a number of panels throughout the weekend. If that's not enough, we're also hosting contests at the PlayStation booth every day where we'll be giving away PS Vitas!"

Now while we will be getting a chance to make a hands-on decision about the console, it's possible as well that Sony could provide information to narrow down the release window for the console at the event. And if Comic-Con is not really the stage for Sony, then maybe something could be one the cards at the GamesCom in August.

GamesCom, set to take place in Cologne, Germany from Aug. 21 to 25, is the next biggest opportunity for Sony as far as a European stage is concerned. The official page for the event also states: "New generation of consoles, more intensive gaming experiences, cross-platform (PlayStation 4, Wii U und Xbox One playable for consumers at gamescom)."

So if the console is made playable for both the events, is it that wild to look for a potential release date in at least one of these events?
