'Pokemon Sun and Moon' News & Updates: A Magikarp Reigns the Hall of Fame

A Japanese gamer was able to beat "Pokemon Sun and Moon." The creature that the gamer used was the unlikely Magikarp.

Some "Pokemon Sun and Moon" players might be surprised by this article. A Japan gamer made it to the hall by using the virtual creature Magikarp. To support his claim, he posted a series of images.

"I made it to the hall of fame in Pokémon Sun and Moon just using a Magikarp I caught! I'm having sushi for dinner tonight!," the gamer tweeted along a series of photos.

The gamer mentioned the word "sushi." According to Forbes, Magikarp is also called Yashoku, which means "evening meal" in Japanese. The Magikarp has been kept in its form via use of Everstone, according to the source.

To understand the use of this item, Everstone prevents Pokémon from evolving when it is held. This means it won't evolve into Gyrodos.

Since this creature is not evolved and can't be evolved, the gamer's claim has been in question as Magikarp is only level 70 and only uses a Normal flail attack.

Some users  wanted to know how a Magikarp with a single Normal attack would be able to defeat things like Ghost type Pokémon. Apparently, the Japanese gamer is resourceful as he was able to beat "Pokémon Sun and Moon" by using only a Magikarp.

How did he do that?

It is possible for Magikarp beat the strongest Pokemon if a player uses up all the PP for Magikarp's single Normal attack and then follow up "struggle" to damage the Ghost type Pokémon. The struggle tactic was used in reverse during tougher battles.

This skill would constantly heal the Magikarp, thus, making opponent waste their PP, forcing them to use struggle. As your opponent uses his struggle skill, the health of his ghost pokemon will be depleted.
