Fans of the hit historical drama series "Reign" Season 4 have been anticipating its return which is slated to be on February 10 next year. But, with the excitement comes the disappointment of hearing that the current season will be the show’s last.
Adelaide Kane who plays the other major role in "Reign" Season 4, has been rumored to having turned down the offer from The CW to renew her contract in reprising her role as Mary Stuart aka Mary, the Queen of Scots. Reportedly, the 26-year old actress turned down the offer in order to be free to do different projects including a movie.
If the rumors of Kane’s leaving “Reign” Season 4 are true, it would be safe to say that her character’s bloody rivalry with her cousin Elizabeth I (Rachel Skarsten) would come to an end. And, it could mean that Mary will meet her tragic death in the coming season for the same reason.
If “Reign” Season 4 remains true to historical facts, Mary will end up with her head rolling down a bucket which will be the end to the longtime rivalry between the two queens. Sources say however that even if the series will not deviate from its source material, Mary’s downfall won’t be the focal point of the season. Instead, a new adversary will probably be introduced to challenge her hold of Scotland.
The death of Mary however could pave the way for Kane’s departure from “Reign” Season 4. If the show will go on beyond that, Elizabeth has the spotlight all to herself as her life and reign could be the main storyline. Sources are in fact saying that when the series returns, the story will already shift to Elizabeth.
“Reign” Season 4 spoilers indicate that the premiere will pick up where the last season left off. A new Mary Stuart is said to emerge after the tragic death of her husband, Francis of France (Toby Regbo). But, Mary’s feud with Elizabeth will intensify because of this.
