Netflix is finally adding offline playability for its contents, a feature that viewers have been asking from the streaming media since long ago. These downloadable contents are available for devices running 1OS 8.0 or Android 4.4.2 and those running later versions than the two.
While Netflix is offering the "download now, watch offline later" option, it is still limited for their original content. Shows like "Narcos," "Orange is The New Black" and "The Crown" are paving the way for this offline playability. There will be other titles en route to Netflix offering but they are still working on it, KnowTechie reported.
What could be the biggest impact of Netflix offline mode is the ability to play contents even without Wi-Fi or mobile network. Of course, contents should have been downloaded first. Then comes portability of Netflix shows when viewers replay them over and over again, offline. Lastly, shows can already be accessed even in airplane mode or on a road trip.
Now here is the catch, it is still unclear which region Netflix is going to introduce offline mode. While rival Amazon made such move across the continent, Netflix is thinking of limiting the feature to countries with slow internet speed. PC Advisor reported that chief operating officer Ted Sarandos said that everything is on the fly as Netflix starts with its originals.
Here is a tip for users of Netflix app, remember that mobile devices have limited storage space so be conscious about the show you are downloading. While higher quality videos present eye-candy treat, lower quality is also good to consider once nearing your storage capacity. Viewers can make the most of this feature by going into App Settings and tapping Video Quality under Downloads tab.
