Grand Theft Auto Online News: Stimulus Package Payment Due This Week

The First Part of GTA Online's Stimulus Package is Coming This Week

Is your GTA Online wallet feeling a bit light these days? Maybe your Cluckin' Bell stocks in the toilet, or you just couldn't resist customizing your whip with that fancy new street racer engine. Whatever the reason, try not to worry about it too much. Why? Because you should be finding your account bulging soon enough, because the first part of Rockstar's stimulus package is due to arrive sometime this week.

That was the word from the GTA V Social Club Twitter, which recently posted a message reading simply, "The first share of the 250k will be deposited in your bank sometime this week."

Title Update 1.04 arrived late last week, clearing the way for the stimulus package. It also made several other fixes, including fixing issues causing vehicle loss and/or loss of vehicle mods, an exploit allowing players to sell the same vehicle, players not receiving Crew invites in-game, the inability to pay utility bills on an owned apartment or house, and more.

The cool half million of in-game bucks is meant as an apology for the various errors the game was afflicted with upon launch. Earlier this month, players by the droves were reporting losses of cash, ranks, cars, properties, and progress of all sorts to Rockstar. Anyone playing the game since October (who presumably experienced any number of these losses) is due to receive the two deposits.

As a post on the company's newswire detailed:

"In order to keep the current worldwide in-game economy balanced, we will be providing this GTA$ to players via two deposits of $250,000...Players will first have to install a forthcoming GTAV title update which we expect to happen next week. That title update (1.04)...will also enable the functionality through which we'll be providing this GTA$ stimulus cash to players."

It may not be enough to make up for some of the losses players experienced as a result of the various glitches, bugs, and errors, but it's certainly better than nothing.

The remaining quarter-mil should arrive before the end of the month. We'll keep you posted if Rockstar provides a more solid date for when gamers can expect the enticing lump sum.
