Grand Theft Auto Online News: Rockstar Reduces Repeat Mission Payouts by 50 Percent

Rockstar halves GTA Online repeat mission payout

More trouble on the horizon for Rockstar’s newest online offering, Grand Theft Auto Online. Rockstar has reduced repeat mission payouts by 50 percent in GTA Online, and did so without bothering to inform players.

As reported via Eurogamer, Rockstar ultimately confirmed the changes it has made to the game on its own website following a massive fan outrage. The developer went on to confirm the change over the weekend on its support site as nothing was mentioned in the previous patch for the game.

“For those of you inquiring about mission payouts, there was a change that reduces payouts by 50% after a repeat of the mission. So, basically, the first time you play and beat the mission, you will get the full amount. Subsequent replays will see a payout amount reduced by half,” the company wrote on its official page.

The company says that the following has been done to “help prepare for upcoming missions and content in the Beach Bum Pack as well as heists to help keep the game balanced as well as encourage the exploration of new missions and content in the game.”

The last patch that was pushed out the previous Friday for GTA Online, Title Update 1.04, applied numerous fixes, but made no mention of halved payout for repeat mission:

“We understand players do like to enjoy a mission multiple times, so rather than remove the possibility of doing so, we've allowed replays of these missions at a reduced payout. Many players can get very good at a mission and beat it much faster in consecutive tries, so we've adjusted these payouts to match that case,” Rockstar further added.

Rockstar has also confirmed that the company is looking to make NPC missions replayable, although such a change will have to wait until another patch can be added.

In the meantime, keep your eyes peeled for the first half of that $500,000 stimulus package to make its way into your bank account sometime this week.
