'The Winds of Winter' Release Date, News & Update: Pre-'GOT' Season 7 Premiere Not Happening; George RR Martin Writing 3 Books Simultaneously?

The sixth installment of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" novel series, "The Winds of Winter," has long been anticipated by the fans. Rumors have it that the upcoming novel would be launched in 2017, together with "Game of Thrones" Season 7. However, with the current progress of the book, this might not come into fruition.

Author George R.R. Martin is reportedly still not finished writing "The Winds of Winter." With this, the book launch would certainly not come anytime in the first quarter of 2017. However, Martin assured his fans that he will have reduced public appearances in 2017 to focus on finishing "The Winds of Winter."

There have also been rumors rounding up the web hoping that "The Winds of Winter" would be launched before the premiere of "Game of Thrones" Season 7. This is largely because the series has now caught up with the books, and some fans did not want to be spoiled more. However, this may not happen, given the author's current progress in "The Winds of Winter."

However, to make up for the disappointment, Martin also revealed that he is also working on the seventh and final installment of "A Song of Ice and Fire," titled "The Dream of Spring." The concluding novel is predicted to be published together with "The Winds of Winter."

"The Winds of Winter" has been in the works for five years already. However, if George R.R. Martin is also working with the "The Dream of Springs" at the same time, even the 2017 target date might be missed.

There have also been reports that aside from "The Winds of Winter" and "The Dream of Spring," Martin is also trying to develop a prequel for "Game of Thrones." He then revealed that he is actually interested in working on stories that will eventually lead up to the various plots in the series.

This news then displeased most of the fans of Martin, as they thought he should instead be focusing on "The Winds of Winter" first. With the increasing pressure, it is only a matter of time before the author finishes the books, and fans get the ending they so long clamor for.
