After "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" kicked off the sequel trilogy in the Skywalker family saga last year, which introduced a new generation of heroes and villains, rumors started to toil about the origin of Rey. "Star Wars: Episode 8" is expected to answer one of the biggest questions of all.
Rey, a young scavenger living in isolation on the desert planet Jakku, is the protagonist of the sequel trilogy which includes "Star Wars: Episode 8." Although she is the main protagonist of "Episode VII," a lot of people find it interesting that the movie revealed very little about her backstory. Rey has been on her own since she was a child and the reasoning for this was left unknown. The origins of Rey and the identity of her parents are still mysterious as of this writing, and fans can't wait for this to be revealed.
Some believe that Rey is the estranged daughter of Luke Skywalker. It can be recalled during one of the movies of "Star Wars" that there was a time when a female pirate captain became attracted to Luke. In "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) was observed to be conspicuously absent. But towards the end of the movie, he appeared and later encountered Rey. But the two didn't have any dialogue. Viewers also noticed the intense look on Rey's face as she faces Luke for the first time. What will their first words be in "Star Wars: Episode 8?"
The story of "Star Wars: Episode 8" could shift its focus onto Luke and Rey (Daisy Ridley). Ridley seemed to contradict the matter as she told MTV that she doesn't know if she is a Jedi. She isn't even certain if the female Skywalker, Leia (Carrie Fisher) is, just because she uses her Force powers.
Ridley has confirmed that fans will find out who Rey's parents are in the next film so we'll just have to wait until the epic release of "Star Wars: Episode 8" on Dec. 15, 2017, to find out. So until then stay tuned here on GamenGuide for updates.
