FC Barcelona News & Updates: Jordi Alba Addresses Row With Mateo Kovačić, Hits Back At Media

After Barcelona achieved a 3 - 0 win against Osasuna this Saturday, Jordi Alba addressed the furor he caused with his row with Mateo Kovačić in the mixed zone.

The Barcelona midfielder offered two assists to Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez in Saturday's game, and his performance was key to the club's win. Despite his brilliant form at the game, Jordi Alba felt the media unfairly singled him out after footage was revealed of him insulting Mateo Kovačić to speak in Spanish despite the Croatian international knowing how to speak five languages, Spanish included.

Jordi Alba addressed the row, saying "These are just things said during a match, they are always taken out of context and isolated. Stuff like this is also said to me. The damage is done, and they always come looking for me. May all those who've spoken ill of me this past week, speak well of me for my performance today."

The Barcelona midfielder also praised his teammate Lionel Messi for his game, saying "Since I've been here, Leo sees passes like no-one else and he always looks for me. The two assists I gave were important but the first was thanks to Leo." Messi scored two goals in the match against Osasuna, putting him at eleven goals total and in first place for the Trofeo Pichichi.

Jordi Alba was also asked about Messi's contract renewal, to which he responded "That's question for Leo. I hope he renews. It will be good for us and also for him. We're superior with him. We haven't spoke with Leo about it, but I hope he stays."

Meanwhile, Jordi Alba's performance against Osasuna will hopefully garner him more favorable reviews next week.
