According to Hollywood Reporter, sources suggest that "Narcos" Season 3 would feature Pablo Escobar by means of flashbacks in the early episodes before shifting the show's focus to Cali Cartel. Many fans still agree that the strength of "Narcos" Season 3 still lies in Wagner Moura's character.
As reported by Independent, Netflix renewed the top rating series for a season 3 and 4. Upon the announcement, Netflix producer Eric Newman spilled that former cast members will still be featured in "Narcos" Season 3.
In the same event, Newman also confirmed that Netflix has no initial plans to introduce another strong and central personality like Pablo Escobar in the upcoming "Narcos" Season 3. The new season will drop the story of a drug lord to look deeper into the systemic effects of cocaine to Colombia and its episodes of corruption.
Meanwhile, Netflix officially confirmed that Pedro Pascal will reprise his role as Javier Pena upon the return of "Narcos" Season 3. However, the status of the character Agent Steve Murphy (Boyd Holbrook), who is Pascal's sidekick remains unconfirmed.
Boyd Holbrook was kept busy by his huge movie projects like the "Predator" reboot since his stint on "Narcos." Sources report that the filming of this movie will begin in February 2017, which suggests that Holbrook may not be able to work on "Narcos" Season 3.
