‘For Honor’ Release Date, News & Update: What It’s Like At The ‘Faction War’ Is Predestined, So Make Sure You’re Constantly Online

Ubisoft's multiplayer dueling game "For Honor" will get a closed beta in January 2017, which means players can try out all 12 character types from Knights, Samurai and Vikings. Additionally, this also marks the debut of the cross-platform "Faction War" metagame.

Ubisoft will also launch "War of the Factions" when the "For Honor" Closed Beta begins. This pre-launch limited event will track all multiplayer activity on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, and give rewards to all players participating in the beta, and the winning faction as well. You can sign up for a spot in the closed beta on the official "For Honor" website.

Previously reported on GamenGuide, is "For Honor's" closed alpha back in September, and a glimpse of its highlights was summarized in a good-humored trailer. If you were one of the alpha players, you already know the basics - players get to battle in big, MOBA-like 4v4 brawls, dominion matches and duels through a directional attack-and-guard system.

"For Honor's" Much Awaited Metagame, "Faction War"

All these serve as a prelude to the highly competitive "Faction War" metagame, a persistent cross-platform conflict between the Knights, Samurai and Vikings. Players start by pledging their swords to a chosen faction, and then every multiplayer duel in the game will affect the world as players earn War Assets according to their personal performance. War Assets in "For Honor" can be spend to assist players defend and conquer territories.

Ubisoft's "For Honor" is expected to be one of 2017's biggest releases, having gained quite the status during its previous testing, reports The Gamers Drop. "Every match makes a difference as all players contribute to the glory of their faction during each 10-week competitive multiplayer season," Ubisoft says.

"For Honor" is releasing on February 14, 2017. As Ubisoft confirmed this week, the game will require constant online connection.
