Super Mario Run is here. The highly anticipated platform game was finally released in Apple Apps Stores around the world. Minutes after its debut, Nintendo shares soar by 18 percent, signaling that investors are putting their bet on the success of Super Mario Run with experts saying that the game could easily reach 1 billion downloads.

"Launching a well-known Nintendo character on the globally penetrated iPhone is one of the best scenarios that investors have hoped for," said Iwai Cosmo Securities analyst Tomoaki Kawasaki. He added that the revival of the most popular video game of the 80s would fare well during the Holiday Season.

GameSpot quoted a report from research firm SuperData that with the current rate of download that Super Mario Run gets from Apple Store, it can possibly reach around 30 million downloads and rake around $60 million on its first month. Although this is below Pokemon Go, developer expected for Super Mario Run to catch up when it will be released on Android platform later.

Nintendo decided to release the revival of Super Mario game with Apple, believing that the Cupertino conglomerate would be able to deliver performance that it envisioned for the game. Super Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto said Apple will be a good partner in reviving the old glory of the game. With its debut at the mobile platform, Super Mario Run can be played with just one hand for the first time giving fans the freedom of a seamless gaming experience even on the move.
