‘Shadowhunters' Season 2 Episode 1 Sneak Peek: Jace Duels Valentine to Protect Clary

Jace Wayland and Valentine square off in the sneak peek for the "Shadowhunters" Season 2 Episode 1, "The Guilty Blood." Jace duels with his father in order to protect Clary.

Freeform has revealed a glimpse at one of the scenes in the "Shadowhunters" Season 2 Episode 1, "The Guilty Blood." In this sneak peek, Clary locates Jace at the docks, on Valentine's ship. She stumbles on him surrounded by unconscious bodies lying on the ground. It remains uncertain if these are Shadowhunters or Downworlders.

Clary surprises Jace when she calls out his name. She convinces Jace to leave the ship right away, since they do not have much time. However, Jace refuses to budge and tells Clary to go, since he cannot leave the ship.

Apparently, Jace is not alone on the ship. Someone else is with him, probably one of Valentine's men. The man immediately tries to kill Clary. Fortunately, Jace blocks his aim and takes him down. He also grabs the man's sword or the seraph blades.

Valentine arrives just in time. He gives Clary a sarcastic greeting and calls her tenacious. Jace shields Clary from Valentine and he whips out the Seraph blades. Valentine brings out his own sword and challenges his son to a fight. The runes along the sword light up to signal the start of a duel.

Who wins in this battle between good vs. evil? Will Jace and Clary escape unscathed? Will Jace kill his father Valentine in "Shadowhunters" Season 2 Episode 1? Perhaps "The Guilty Blood" refers to Jace and his realization that he is on the wrong side of the team.

Regardless, this sneak peak at the "Shadowhunters" Season 2 Episode 1, "The Guilty Blood," confirms the updated features on the Seraph blades. Series creator Todd Slavkin told Empire Online, that the instalment features swords that have runes glowing on the surface.
