‘Overwatch’ Year Of The Rooster Event Coming Soon

“Overwatch” was one of the great hits of 2016, bringing home many awards, among which best competitive title, best MMO and Game of the Year. With such a great success comes and the responsibility towards your playerbase. Here comes the moment of event introduction and what players can expect of the year of the rooster.

According to Gamespot, it is not yet sure what will be the complete contents of the coming in-game “Overwatch” even, dedicated to the year of the rooster, but some of the surprises have been unveiled. Mei will get a special skin, celebrating the coming of the New Year. Together with her will be D.Va who is another character to receive a special skin for the coming celebration. Blizzards spokespeople have announce that the Year of the Rooster celebrations will be in the same scope as Christmas, Halloween or other holiday themed events.

Game Rant has announced that the Year of the Rooster event in “Overwatch” will begin from 24 January. It is not yet announced when the event will end, but it is expected to happen before Valentine’s. The player base has been expecting some special content prepared for the day of love and it would be rather disappointing if the celebration is missed. For the Year of the Rooster celebrations are expected not only themed skins, but also themed loot boxes and game modes, which revolve around the celebration much like the Snow Brawl arcade mode, which had 6v6 battle of snowballs flying all over the map.

Besides the Year of the Rooster specialties, the newest addition to the game is the Oasis control map, which offers battle in the crown jewel of the desert. A city built from scientists who seeks shelter from the outer world, this place is both a heaven and a hell and it falls to the agents of “Overwatch” to make sure that the seconds does not become a permanent reality. “Overwatch” is available on PC, XBOX One and PS4.
