'For Honor' Trailer Reveals 'Faction War' Information

"For Honor" recently released a trailer that carries some information about their "Faction War" multiplayer feature. Ubisoft apparently describes it "the world's largest cross-platform metagame." The company adds that it will be a competition among players who associate themselves with a particular faction, out of the three being offered by the game.

Game Rant explains that players are given a choice to select from Vikings, Samurai and Knights. They are then given the task to battle with other players and their groups. The added multiplayer detail reportedly creates a connection between battles and individual matches each player goes through. The included metagame will purportedly allocate a territory that will be the focal point of each faction's battle. Wins grant more captured area, while loses will forfeit the territory.

The "Faction War" element is spread among the three platforms playing "For Honor," PS4, Xbox One and PC, according to VG24/7. The metagame battle results will be compiled by the system and rewards will be generated to one of the three divisions. The information gathered will most likely come from each system and will last until the end of a pre-determined season length. The faction with the most wins contributes to their overall points and players who have aligned themselves will reportedly receive special rewards.

The extra feature will launch together with the game's beta, which is scheduled on Jan. 26 until Jan. 29, 2017. The beta will give participants access to 3 heroes for each faction. There would also be three game modes and six maps. An alpha test was conducted by the publisher last September. It was reportedly a successful event wherein they set a record for the biggest alpha test done by the company.

The upcoming beta test is expected to gauge how well "For Honor" will perform during its official launch on Feb 14, 2017. The game has obviously been anticipated ever since its E3 2015 appearance. According to Ubisoft, the game will have a campaign mode as well as the "Faction War" cross-platform element.
