'Pokémon Go' Valentine's Day Event; Doubled Candies At Faster Speed, Increased Spawn Rates For Monsters; Here's What's Left Until Feb. 15

"Pokémon Go" fans have already started to feel V-Day since Feb. 8.  The augmented reality game has started its week long Valentine's celebration and is giving out goodies until Feb. 15.  Players will be able to use an active lure for six hours straight, as opposed to the original 30 minutes.  And there are several more that players will surely enjoy.

"PokéMon Go's" Valentine's Day Event Will Run Feb. 8 Until Feb. 15

Game developer Niantic has announced last week that candies received will get doubled for catching, hatching and transferring "Pokémon Go" characters.  The buddy Pokémon will be able to find additional candies at a faster rate, twice the normal rate, Engadget reports.

Aside from the extended effective time of lures during the event, pink Pokémon characters such as Chansey, Clefable and Porygon will have an increased spawn rates.  Additionally, Cleffa, Igglybuff and Smoochum, from the second generation, will have a higher chance of hatching from eggs during the duration of the event.

The "PokéMon Go's" Valentine's Day Event Is First Themed Event For 2017

The "Pokémon Go" Valentine's event is the first themed event for 2017 and is primarily created to entice gamers back.  This kind of activity started out last year when Niantics launched its Halloween special.  This gave an increased spawning to Ghastly, Gengar, Golbat and Drowzee, just to name a few, added Wired.

This was then followed by a Thanksgiving event, during the later part of November, and the Christmas Pikachu festive Santa hat event, which also introduced baby Togepi and Pichu before 2016 ended.

Meanwhile, other pink colored "Pokémon Go" characters that are confirmed to spawn during the event includes Clefairy, Exeggcute, Jigglypuff, Slowpoke and Lickitung.  Wigglytuff and Slowbro may also be just around the corner, although on the rare side and has not been confirmed yet. Mr. Mime and Mew, are also classified as pink Pokémon but remains to be a distant dream for now for the players.

"Pokémon Go" players will have until 11:00 am PST on Feb. 15 to celebrate Valentine's Day. Watch Pokémon GO Valentine's Day Catches! Chansey, Mr.Mime & More here:
